Vitez (Cyrillic: Витез) is a town in central Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is administratively part of the Central Bosnia Canton of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The word Vitez literally means knight in Croatian, Bosnian, and Serbian.

In 1991 the population of the Vitez municipality was 27,728, of which were 45,72% Croats (12.679), 41,36% Muslims (11.471), 5,41% Serbs (1.502), 4,91% Yugoslavians (1.362), 2,60% and others (714).
