Bihac is located in Northwest part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the border with Croatia. It is administrative, educational and cultural centre of Una-Sana Canton. Area of Municipality covers 900 square kilometers with population of 60.810.

The relief of Bihac Municipality is diverse, with fields, karst, hilly and mountain areas, with rich water flows and springs. One of the cleanest and most beautiful rivers in Europe, named by the ancient Romans - Una (one and only) flows through Bihac. River Una has many natural beauties - such as the canyon, waterfalls and rapids, especially in Bihac Municipality. The area is rich with karst caves, flora and fauna and it is rare example of ecologically completely saved biodiversity.

The climate is moderate continental, but diverse due to influences of air masses from neighboring and remote areas. Summers are warm and dry and the winters are cold with a lot of precipitation. Average temperature in January is 0.4° C, and July average is 21° C.

During calendar year about 80 days have temperatures below zero degrees. Frosts emerge from October to April, snows from November to April. Fog is also distinctive feature in Bihac field.

According to its geological structure, this area has foundation for exploration and exploitation of mineral raw materials. There are significant deposits of gypsum, stone "bihacit", mineral raw materials such as dolomite, and different kinds of limestone and quartz sand. Mineral, thermal and spring water resources are also present in the area.
